Built in1971, the 46-story 610 room hotel is a unique example of legendary emery Roth & Sons’ postwar architecture. Park lane’s limestone facade was designed in a modernist/post-modernist style with sleek black glass windows spanning the entire vertical height of the structure, offering guests sweeping views of the central park and surrounding cityscape. The building was a modern addition to this highly historic and coveted luxury hotel district of Central Park south. It stood out as a modern structure amidst its more classical neighbors.
